Question

A student uses the circuit below to measure IV characteristic curves for three "unknown" devices (Devices 1-3)

The IV graphs are shown below.

Each "unknown" device could be one of the five devices shown below.

Part A

Based upon your own measurements in the lab, match Device 1 IV graph with one of the devices:

B

Part B

Based upon your own measurements in the lab, match Device 2 IV graph with one of the devices:

A

Part C

Based upon your own measurements in the lab, match Device 3 IV graph with one of the devices:

E

Part D

Which of the following best represents the resistance of the Ohmic device?

Part E

Among all three measurements, what is the maximum voltage supplied by the power supply to the test circuit?

I've already solved Part A~D, need answer for Part E. (I've tried 3.2V/2.2V/3.6V, they are all wrong)

200   120 S2 Power Device Supply

Explanation / Answer

Part E:

In all the devcies the maximum voltage across the device is 2.0 V

the maximum current supplid is 30 mA with device I

The current also creates a voltage drop across 120 ohm resistor

                  = 30 *120e-3 = 3.6 V

Th toela voltage supplied by the Power supply drops across the resistor and the device

                     = 2.0 +3.6 = 5.6 V
