Question

Which of the following statements are true about atomic nuclei? (mark all that apply)

A. mass of proton mass of neutron > mass of electron

B. The atomic mass unit is approximately equal to the mass of the proton

C. Nuclei having the same number of neutrons but different number of protons are isotopes of the same element

The two types of nucleons are protons and electrons

A. mass of proton mass of neutron > mass of electron

B. The atomic mass unit is approximately equal to the mass of the proton

C. Nuclei having the same number of neutrons but different number of protons are isotopes of the same element

D.

The two types of nucleons are protons and electrons

Explanation / Answer

Option A -> mass of proton is 1.6726 x 10-27 kg and mass of neutron is 1.6749 x 10-27 kg which we can say almost equal but mass of electron is 9.1 x 10-31 kg which is not less than mass of neutron so option A is wrong .

Option B-> atomic mass = proton + nutron , so atomic mass is not equal to only proton, option B is wrong.

Option C is right.

Option D is wrong because nucleous have only proton and neutron.
