As you face the window (0.827 m high, 2.04 m wide) in your compartment, the train is moving to the left, as the drawing indicates. The top edge of the wall first appears at window corner A and eventually disappears at window corner B. How much time passes between appearance and disappearance of the upper edge of the wall?Explanation / Answer
The upper edge will disappear when tain has travelled a distance equal to the width of window and an addiional distance given by the base of triangle .= 2.04 + 0.827/ tan 12= 5.94 m apprx
time = 5.94/ 3= 1.98 sec apprx
