It is 3.9 km deep, and rocks at that depth are 60°C. Assuming that rocks at the surface of the mine are 0°C, what is the geothermal gradient at the mine? Show your work.

Density of the rock = 3000 kg/m^3
Gravity = 10 m/s^2
Pressure = Depth x Density x Gravity

Pressure=3.9*3000*10=117000

Temp = Geothermal Gradient x Depth

Geothermal Gradient =Temp/Depth

=60/3.9
