Question

The figure at the right shows the same four resistors from last week's pre-lab circuit shown above, but connected in a parallel circuit with the same battery as in that circuit. Take the current from the battery in the parallel circuit I as 400 mA. 1) What is potential difference across each resistor? Why? 2) What is the current through each of the resistors? Explain. 3) If we added fifth resistor in a fifth branch how would that affect the potential difference across each of the resistors, the current through each of the resistors, and the current I_p?

Explanation / Answer

in parallel combinatiro of resistors each resistor hase same potential is equals to the potential of battery

here r tot = r/4

so current across each resitor is i = 4v/r

if we add any number of resistors in parallel connection each resitor has same voltage

and current becomes i = 5v/r
