Question
An object is placed 13.5 cm in front of a convex mirror that has a focal length of -22.5 cm. Determine the location of the image. ____ What is the magnification? In this example the image is ... Real and upright. Virtual and inverted. Real and invented. Virtual and upright. not understanding how to setup the equation, in class the numbers were easy to find a common denominator, but im not getting these You don't have to actually find a common denominator. Like I type into my calculator something like: (1/39.4)-(1/15.7)=-.038 than I take the inverse of that answer: 1/-.038. That gives the right answer to the problem!Explanation / Answer
Location of image is
1/q = 1/f - 1/p = 1/(-23.5) - 1/13.5
q = -8.5743 -8.57 cm
----------------------------------------------------------------
Magnification is m = -q/p
= 8.5743/13.5
= 0.635
The image is virtual and upright
