Question
The magnitude of the uniform electric field in the region between the accelerating plates is 3.0 times 10^5 V/m. If the distance between the plates is 2.0 mm find the magnitude of the potential between the plates. Two lenses diverging of the focal length of 15 cm and converging of the focal length of 10 cm are placed 9.0 cm apart. The diverging lens is located to the left of the converging lens. The final image of an object is located 30 cm behind the 5. converging lens. a) points) Where is the object located? b) What is the overall magnification of the system?Explanation / Answer
4) using lens formula,
-1/u +1/v = 1/f
-1/u = 1/10 -1/30 = 2/30
u = -15 cm
so for first lens, v = -6 cm
so by lens formula
-1/u -1/6 = -1/15
-1/u = 1/10
u = -10 cm
hence image is 10 cm left of diverging lens.
b) magnification = 6/10 *30/-15
= -1.2 answer
