Question 4 1.5 pts Michael Farady envisioned electric field lines as "lines of force Explain, the difference between the information the electric field lines provide from the trajectory (path) that a charged particle would follow in such an electric field? For example, think about a charged particle entering an area of electric field so that its initial velocity vector points perpendicular to the electric field lines. Recall how the change in the velocity vector is related to the direction of the net force.Explanation / Answer
Force on a charge due to electric force is given by product of electric field and charge.
In the give situation, initial velocity is perpendicular to direction of electric field and the acceleration will be along the electric field.
Then there will be two components of velocity of the movement of the charge.
One component will be along the electric field which will increase as per the acceleration due to force due to electric field.
One component will be perpendicular to the direction of electric field and that will remain constant.
So the particle will follow a curves parabolic path.
Line of force gives the direction of this first component which is due to electric force of the electric field.
