Say you have -25 C of electrons (a LOT of chargel). How many electrons does this represent? 0.821 Submit Previous Answers Request Answer X Incorrect; Try Again; 4 attempts remaining Part B - How many protons Now you have 25 C of protons. How many protons is this? Note the amount of charge is the same, just the sign is opposite. Don't redo the problem- THINK! 202 ? P+ Submit Request Answer Part C-How many up quarks Now say that the 25 C is made entirely of up-quarks (this is actually impossible, but don't worry about that!). How many up-quarks would this be?

Explanation / Answer

a) charge on 1 electron = - 1.6 x 10^-19 C

No of electrons= ( 25 x 10^19) / 1.6= 15.625 x 10^19

b) no of protons= 15.625 x 10^19

c) charge on 1 up-quark = 2/3 ( 1. 6 x 10^-19 C) = 1.1 x 10^-19 C

no of up -quarks= ( 25x 10^19/ 1.1)= 22.73 x10^ 19
