Question

TRIANGULAR METHOD RESULTS Vector A 5.39N @ 0 5.39N a 0 Resultant Vector B 3.43N 90 4.41N a 60° Equilibrant 7.8N 240 5.72N a 216 Conclusion- In this exercise we did vector addition by forcetable and triangular method and both methods came out similar with slightly different results. Some possible sources of errors for this experiment could have been due to different measurements of the string attached to the pulley and error in degrees. Both of those variables could have added to measures being different from the force table and triangular method.

Explanation / Answer

According to Vector law

The equilibrant and the resultant force are both same in magnitude but opposite in the direction.

1.magnitude= 7.8 N

Angle =240-180=60 degrees

2. Magnitude = 5.72 N

Angle = 216-180=36 degrees
