You set up an IEP plate and connect the anode to the negative wire and the cathode to the positive wire. Is this a correct set-up?  

Know that we know the equipment was set up incorrectly, how is this going to affect your results? Or will it? What would happen if you ran it for 5 minutes incorrectly and then changed it to the correct set up and ran the gel for one hour?

It is the wrong attachment

cathode is always connected to the negative terminal and anode to positive because the cathode releases electron and anode takes the electron which in turn determines the flow of the current.

it will not work at all as there is no flow of current there ill be no damage but once you make right connections everything will be fine
