Question

Item 12 12 of 18 > Part A Constants How far should the objective lens be from the object to produce a real image 16 cm from the objective? Your task in physics lab is to make a microscope from two lenses. One lens has a focal length of 12 cm, the other a focal length of 2.0 cm. You plan to use the more powerful lens as the objective, and you want its image to be 16 cm from the lens, as in a standard biological microscope Express your answer using two significant figures d= cm Submit Request Answer Part B What will be the magnification of your microscope? Express your answer using two significant figures

Explanation / Answer

Solution:-

Part A)

The image from the objective needs to be 16 - 12.0 cm, that is 4.0 cm

For the object location

Now using equation

1/f = 1/p + 1/q

1/1.1 = 1/p + 1/4

=>1/1.1-1/4== 1/p

=>29/44=1/p

=>29p=44

=>p=44/29

=> 1.52 cm

Part B)

M = -L/fo(25/fe)

L = 16 - 2 - 12= 2 cm

M = (-2/2)(25/12)

M = -2.08
