Let us know if you got a helpful answer. . Question A charge distribution generates a radial electric field where a = 2796.0 N·m2/C and b = 19.0 m. What is the total charge giving rise to this electric field?
Explanation / Answer
To find total charge. lets take Gaussian surface.
since E is radially symmetric ,
flux givne by
lim r-> infinity integral of E. da
lim r-> infinity integral of (a/r^2) (e^-r/b) da
lim r-> infinity integral of (a/r^2) (e^-r/b) 4pi*r^2
lim r-> infinity integral of (a/r^2) (e^-r/b) 4pi*r^2
lim r-> infinity 4*pi*a e^(-r/b) = 0
so flux is zero..
therfore total chagre is enclosed is ZERO.
