Question

Please make work legible and clear I want to understand how to do it. 2. One suggested design for a space station is a rotating wheel. (For example, this design is shown in the film 200 A Space Odyssey.) The rotation of the wheel l provide an artificial gravity for people living inside. Imagine a space station designed like a bicycle wheel where the habitat is inside what would be the "tire" portion of the wheel If the diameter of the wheel is 300.0 m, how many rotations per minute must the space station make in order to provide an Earth-like artificial gravity for the astronauts?

Explanation / Answer

centripetal acceleration=v^2/r=g=9.8

d=300 m

r=d/2=150m

v^2=9.8*150

v=38.34 m/s

let rotation in one minute be x

in one second = x/60

1 rotation=2pi*r=942.477 m

distance in one second=38.34 m

(x/60)*942.477=38.34

x=2.44 rotation per minute
