A rope tied to the box runs vertically upward over a pulley and a weight is hung from the other end. Part A Determine the force that the table exerts on the box if the weight hanging on the other side of the pulley weighs 30.0 N Express your answer to three significant figures and include the appropriate units. Explanation / Answer

Part-A :--- From free body diagram the forces on the box are weight, normat reaction and tension

Now weight = 73N and tension = 30N these two are opposite, that is normal reaction = 73 -30 =43N

Part-B

Now weight = 73N and tension = 60N these two are opposite, that is normal reaction by ground, = 73 -60 =13N

Part-C

Now weight = 73N and the other side force is 90N these two are opposite on the box ,

That is normal reaction = 73 -90 = -23N

It is negative, that is the box moves up away from ground. That is no normal reaction by the ground on the box.
