A) water B) city (urban area) C) vegetation These features change between day and night images (thermally)? Explain the main reasoning using knowledge of therma infrared energy interactions and physical geography?Explanation / Answer
The images are different from day to night because of the strength of infrared radiation emitted by the objects.
A)
Water shows two color pictures due to the variation in the heat day to night. At the day time water absorbs some of the radiations and exhibit blue color but at the time of night it exhibit slight decrease color.
B)
In urban areas, the strength of the living people is higher than the villages and city contains more number of streets and more number of persons is living. Hence, the radiated heat is higher than the villages. The thermal picture has taken based on the infrared radiation emitted by the object. The temperature in urban areas higher than the rural areas, thus these are called “urban heat island”. Trapping of short and long-wave radiation in between buildings and increased storage of heat by the buildings. During the time of day, if we take thermal picture of city it exhibit some color and at the time of night it does not show that much of the color photo because of the decease of the heat during night to the day.
C)
Vegetation plants also show variations in color due to day and night time. The time of night it produces the low infrared radiation but at the time of night they continue produce heat. Hence, they shows variation of color in two types.
