Question
The reflecting surfaces of two mirrors form a vertex with an angle of 100 .
Part A
If a ray of light strikes mirror 1 with an angle of incidence of 52 , find the angle of reflection of the ray when it leaves mirror 2.
Express your answer using two significant figures.
The reflecting surfaces of two mirrors form a vertex with an angle of 100 .
Part A
If a ray of light strikes mirror 1 with an angle of incidence of 52 , find the angle of reflection of the ray when it leaves mirror 2.
Express your answer using two significant figures.
=Explanation / Answer
let say and if imagine ABC is a triangle
B = vertex that the angle iis reflecting surfaces meets
so CBA = 90 - 52 = 48o
and the angle is BAC = 180 - ( 48 + 100 )
= 32o
so now the angle of reflection of the ray when it leaves mirror 2 is
= 90 - 32
= 58o
the angle of reflection of the ray when it leaves mirror 2 is = 58o
