In answering this question, please do the following:
A simple answer will not be enough. Please explain to me WHY each answer is what it is. If you can do so by using an equation associated with it, that would be of great help.
4) A circuit consists of three identical lamps connected to a battery as shown. The battery has some internal resistance. The switch S, originally open, is closed. (i) What then happens to the brightness of lamp B? (ii) What happens to the brightness of lamp C? (iii) What happens to the current in the battery? (iv) What happens to the potential difference across lamp A? (v) What happens to the potential difference across lamp C? (vi) What happens to the total power delivered to the lamps by the battery? Ans: (i) b (ii) a (iii) a (iv) b (v) a (vi) aExplanation / Answer
a)If as the switch is closed, the lamp C gets connected in parallel with the battery and hence no change takes place in the brightness of lamp B as lamp B gets the same amount of Voltage as it was getting before switch S was closed
b)
Increase-the Lamp C gets some Voltage across it , its brightness increases.
c)
Current in the battery increases as the resistance of the circuit decreases on making the switch closed.
d)
That's Potential
