the net force on the block is

F net = sqrt F x^2 + Fy^2

= sqrt ( 40)^2 + ( 60)^2

=72.11 N

from the Newton second law of motion

F net = ma

a = F net/m = 72.11/ 8 kg = 9 m/s^2

w= mg = 8 ( 9.8) = 78.4 N

( c)

theta = tan^-1 ( 60/40) = 56.3

N = mg sin theta = 78.4 N sin 56.3 = 65.23 N
