Question
Please show how to get the answers above with steps shown. A block of mass 5.00 kg is projected up a ramp with an initial speed r_0 = 16.0 m/s. The ramp is inclined at 36.9 degree above the horizontal and the coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the ramp is mu_k = 0.300. a) What is the magnitude of the friction force that acts on the block? b) What is the magnitude of the acceleration of the block? c) What is the maximum distance the block travels along the incline before it starts to slide back down?Explanation / Answer
a) friction force = umg cos a
= 0.3*5*9.8*cos 36.9
= 11.75 N
b) a = (mg sin a - Ff) / m
= (5*9.8*sin 36.9 - 11.75) / 5
= 3.52 m/s2
c) v^2 - u^2 = 2aS
0 - 16^2 = 2*-3.52*S
S = 36.32 m
