If someone could help me with this an explain reasoning,
Thanks!
A student has a problem with his bulb circuit. Using a voltmeter, he measures a voltage equal to the battery voltage between points 3 and 8 in the circuit below. Which of the following scenarios does this measurement confirm? Please select all correct answers. The circuit wiring is continous from point 3 to point 5. The circuit wiring is discontinuous between point 8 and point 10. The circuit wiring is continuous from point 1 to point 3 The battery is outputting full voltage. The bulb is burned out (open circuit). The circuit wiring is continuous from point 6 to point 8.Explanation / Answer
1)
Option 1 is not correct
given that if voltmeter shows reading v
then it's continious but it may or may not be continious
see this can be the condition for the given scenario that if the bulb is fused and that is continious and if that is discontinious and bulb is good not fused
2)
In option 2 if it is correct you will get full v as potential in voltmeter
cause the circuit will only involve voltmeter
3)
In option 3 if the circuit wiring through 1 to 3 will be discontinued there will be incomplete circuit
and you will get 0 as reading of voltmeter
4)
In option 4 even if the battery is putting full v in contribution there would always be some resistance in wire from 1 to 4
which will drop the potential to some extent so experimentally you will not get exact v in voltmeter
5)
If the circuit will open According to option 5 then if you will apply voltmeter there you will get full reading
6)
In option 6 it must be continious thruoh 6 to 8 cause then circut will be closed and voltmeter will show reading
(So 1 and 4 are wrong statement and 2,3,5,6 are correct)
