Question
I am using a PHET collision simulator ====> file:///var/folders/bx/99l_mybx4b99py6qzjz25tym0000gn/T/phet-collision-lab/collision-lab_en.html and I am having issues solving this worksheet.
IB. Perfectly Inelastic Collision: Set the Elasticity setting in the upper right corner panel to 0.0. Play with the simulator and note a few observations comparing an elastic and inelastic collision. Complete the tables below by imputing knowns and pressing the play button. object Mass (kg) initial (m/s) Vfinal (m/s Pinital (kg Pfina (kg KE (J) m/s) m/s) Total Initial. 1.20 1.50 1.20 1.80 Total Final object Mass (kg) initial (m/s) V m/s inital (kg P (kg KE (J) final final m/s) m/s) 2.40 Total Initial 1.30 4.80 Total Final Does conservation of energy occur in the collisions above? How about conservation of momentum? Why?Explanation / Answer
In Collision irrespective of elastic or inelastic
1.) Momentum remains conserved.
2.) Kinetic energy remains conserved for elstic collision
But not so for inelastic collision
3.) But If we talk about energy as whole then it remain conserved.
