Q5 short answers

Each of the following statements is false. Explain what is wrong with each. A. When the battery of your cell phone is low, it is because it has run out of electrons and needs to be replenished by recharging it. B. Charge flows through a circuit at a high rate of speed, which is why lights turn on right when the switch is turned on. C. Charge becomes used up as it moves around a circuit. The amount of charge that leaves the + side of a battery is more than the amount of charge the reaches the - side of the battery.

Explanation / Answer

Solution:

a)

True- The battery present(rechargable in this case) holds the charge in the form of number of electrons present at the anode rod/bar present in the battery which holds the negative charge in form of intergral multiples of electronic charge(i.e, ne).

b)

True- Current flows opposite to the direction of the flow of the negative charge (electrons here).

The speed of the electrons is called as drift velocity & given by:  vd =  I / enA.

c)

True- The amount of charge can not be more than in the arrival.If there's a ideal circuit with no resistance then there will be a condition of short circuit.

V = I R

if R = 0 => V = 0.
