Problem 24.05 - Enhanced - with Solution (9.00cm)(9.00cm) 9.00cm. The image is 9.00 cm in front of the mirror, at the location of the object. A concave spherical mirror has a radius of curvature of 9.00 cm You may want to review (Ln pages 773-779) Part D For related problem-solving tips and strategies, you may want to view a Video Tutor Solution of Image from a concave Calculate the size of the image formed by an 14.0 mm-tall object whose distance from the mirror is a 00cm . Express your answer in millimeters to three significant figures mirro Submit My Answers Give Up Part E Calculate the location of the image formed by an 14.0 mm-tall object whose distance from the mirror is 2.25 cm Express your answer in centimeters to three significant figures = -4.50 cm Submit My Answers Give UpExplanation / Answer
Focal length of the concave mirror = f = R/2 = 9/2 = 4.5 cm
use the mirror equation
1/f = 1/v + 1/u
D] object distance u = 9 cm
so, 1/4.5 = 1/v + 1/9
=> v = 9 cm
this is the image distance
so, the size of the final image will be: |y2'| = (v/u)14 = (9/9)14 = 14.0 mm.
E] u = 2.25 cm
so, 1/4.5 = 1/v + 1/2.25
=> v = - 4.5 cm
F] The size of the final image will be: |y2'| = (v/u)14 = (4.5/2.25)14 = 28 mm.
B]
u = 18 cm
so, 1/4.5 = 1/v + 1/18
=> v = 6 cm
so, the size of the final image will be: |y2'| = (v/u)14 = (6/18)14 = 4.67 mm.
G]
u = 10m = 1000 cm
so, 1/4.5 = 1/v + 1/1000
=> v = s4' = 4.52 cm.
You had forgotten to convert the object distance from meters to centimeter which led to a wrong answer.
