Review steps 1), 22) and 28) and discuss the proper way to connect the wires from the Oscope to a circuit so that you can measure the voltage of a circuit element. Refer to the sample data provided by DA1 and identify each of the columns which depend upon the Law of Conservation of Current, Kirchhoff's Voltage Law, and/or Ohm's Law. Since the function generator has the (square wave) button pressed, it is supposed to make voltage which looks like i) Record the effect of the Frequency knob on V_max, V_min and T. ii) Record the effect of the Amplitude knob on V_max, V_min, and T. iii) Record the effect of the Offset knob on V_max, V_min, and T.

Explanation / Answer

i) Effect of frequency knob:

-there is no effect on Vmax & Vmin

-if you increase or decrease frequency knob period of wave T decrease or increase simultaneously

ii) effect of amplitude knob:

-If you increse amplitude knob Vmax and Vmin both increases & both decrease if you decrease amplitude knob in function generator.

-There is no effect of Amplitude knob on period T

In both function of frequecy and aplitude, signal value remain same only its scale changes on screen.

iii) Offset knob:

- we can add some dc voltage in signal by Offset feature in function generator

- when we add offset voltage in signal, signal overlaps on that dc voltage so both Vmax & Vmin move upward if we set positive offset voltage. Similarly both move down for negative offset

- there is no effect of Offset on period T.
