Question
You have an object positioned 23 cm to the left of a diverging lens (f = -45 cm), and have a converging lens (f = 9 cm) positioned 21 cm to the right of the diverging lens. Without doing any calculations, determine (a) what kind of image is created by this two-lens system and (b) what can you say (if anything) about the size of the final image (compared to the original object).
virtual, smaller
real, larger
virtual, can't determine without doing the calculations

Can you please draw out/ explain? thanks
Explanation / Answer
Initially we have to know that, the nature of image for the lenses at different positions.
For the diverging lens , the image is always virtual and erect and size is diminished.
Coming to converging lens, the position of the objectis above 2f from the optic center then the image is real and inverted and diminished.
so the final image is virtual and smaller.
