Explanation / Answer

given acceleration of the system
a = 1.04 m/s/s
m1 = 3.2 kg
m2 = 6 kg
assuming coefficient of kinetic friction between the blocks and the incline = k

a. let tension in the string be T
   then form force balance on m1
   T - m1*g*sin(35) - k*m1*g*cos(35) = m1*a
   and from force balance on m2
   m2*g*sin(35) - T - k*m2*g*cos(35) = m2*a

   adding equations
   g*sin(35)[m2 - m1] - k*g*cos(35)[m1 + m2] = (m1 + m2)*a
   k = tan(35)[m2 - m1]/(m2 + m1) - a/gcos(35)
   k = tan(35)(2.8)/(9.2) - 1.04/9.81*cos(35) = .0836

b. T = 3.2*1.04 + [0.0836*cos(35) + sin(35)]*3.2*9.81 = 23.485 N
