Dimensions Sl unit Quantity Length/distance Area (A) Volume (V) Velocity (speed) (V) Acceleration (a) Density (MPV) Mass Trying to make a chart for my class. m (SI) Why is the formula for velocity and acceleration different? 2 L3 LIT L/T2 M/L' m3 (SI) m/s (SI) m/s2 (SI) Which one is correct the division or the multiplication. (L) (T2) Where does the negative numbers come from? kg Density - should it be M/L3 or M/L3 Should it be 3 or -3? Speed (s) distance (d) Area - length x width Volume of a cube is s3 Time (t) lume L x W x H Vol Volume of cylinder = ( r2)(h) Any other important dimensions that I should know aboutExplanation / Answer
Velocity is distance divided by time hence the dimension is L/T
Acceleration is velocity divided by time do we get L/T2
The units are correct, they are just written in inverse power unit
When some thing is in the denominator to the power of 2 (let's say). If we wore it in the numerator then we write it as T to the power of -2.
Density should be M/L3 or ML-3
The point is they are same.
