Question
Starting from rest several toy cars roll down ramps with differinglengths and angles. Rank them by their speed to the bottom ofthe ramp from the slowest to fastest. Car A goes down a 10 mramp inclined at 15 degrees, car B goes down a 10 m ramp inclinedat 20 degrees and car D goes down a 12 m ramp inclined at 12degrees. For this question I know that its solved using trig functions, but I am having trouble understanding how to start the problem. Can anyone help give a quick review of right triangles andhow to solve this problem? Thanks! :) For this question I know that its solved using trig functions, but I am having trouble understanding how to start the problem. Can anyone help give a quick review of right triangles andhow to solve this problem? Thanks! :)Explanation / Answer
Assuming friction is negligible, the speed will depend on theheight of the top of the ramp above the ground. For length L andangle A this is given by LsinA. A 10 x sin15 = 2.59 B 10 x sin20 = 3.42 D 12 x sin12= 2.49 Answer D,A,B
