Question

7.   An alternating emf source with a certain emf amplitude isconnected, in turn, to a resistor, a capacitor, and then aninductor. Once connected to one of the devices, the drivingfrequency fd is varied and theamplitude I of the resulting current through the deviceis measured and plotted. Which of the three plots inFig. 31-23 correspondsto which of the three devices?    FIGURE 31-23    Question 7 .

I understood that a is the inductor because it is exponential, andI guessed correctly for b and c but I need to explain my reasoningand I'm not sure how to do that for the resistor and the capacitor. For a I rationalized it by looking at the equation q = Qe^-Rt/2Lwhich is exponential, so a must be the inductor, and I thought bwas the resistor because it was constant and I remembered somethingabout ohmic resistors being constant but I'm not sure if thatapplies here. And c I guessed to be the capacitor because that wasthe only left. If there are equations or concepts that explain band c I think that would help me a lot.
Thank you!
