Question
A clock face has negative point charges -q,-2q,-3q, · · · ,-12q fixed at the positions of the corresponding numerals. The clock hands do not perturb the net field due to the pointcharges. At what time does the hour hand point in the samedirection as the electric field vector at the center of the dial?(Hint: Use symmetry. Answer using the format hh:mm)1
I am not sure how to answer this since I am not surewhere the direction of the electric field is pointing at the centerof the dial? If i add up all of the electic fields I would thinkthat the field is pointing down since the charge q is the greatestat 12 on the clock.
