To determine the amount of temporary hearing loss loud music cancause in humans, researchers studied a group of 20 adult femaleswho were exposed to 113 dB musicfor 60 minutes. Eleven of the 20 subjects showeda 19 dB reduction in hearingsensitivity at 4000 Hz. What is the intensity corresponding to thethreshold of hearing for these subjects? we know that intensity of the sound wave                  = (10dB) log(I/Io) Given that          = 19 dB          Io =10-12 W/m2          ==>        log (I / Io)= 19 / 10 = 1.9 ==>             I / Io = e1.9 ==>                    I = Io * e1.9                               = 10-12 * e1.9 W/m2
