This question is from the prologue:Exercise #1: Which of the following are scientific hypotheses?
(a) Chlorophyll makes grass green
(b) Earth rotates about its axis because living things need an alternation of light and darkness
(c) Tides are caused by the Moon.
The book makes a big point of saying that in order to be scientific, there has to be a test that can be done to possible prove the hypothesis wrong. So, saying "Life exists on other planets somewhere in the universe" is not scientific since there is no way to check everywhere else in the universe for life, so there is no test for falseness, however, saying that "Life does not exist on other planets somewhere in the universe" could be considered scientific, because you can test for falseness.
So, as for the questions above, I think (a) & (c) are correct. Any other opinions?

The Earth rotating has been proven and there is no way to tell if tides are caused by the moon so...
