Question

What percentage of the intensity gets through both polarizers? 50%, 25% or 0% Sorry it is so small... my computer would not allow it to get any bigger for some reason. It is just hard to see the x, y, and z axes. This question/answer is very simple, but I would just like to have an explanation as to how I could get to the answer so I can understand the big picture. I'm having a difficult time with this. Thanks! An unpolarized EM wave is incident on two orthogonal polarizers. Explanation / Answer

0% because it's cos(90) = 0. There is no a parallel component that passes through the 2nd one.
