Question
Hi, I just need help with the last part of this problem. I figured out how to work parts a & b, and I am now stuck on how to get part c.
Here's the whole question:
An AC power supply with a maximum potential of 45 V is across a series RLC circuit, where the inductance is 15 mH, the capacitance is 94 nF, the resistance is 17 .
a) Find the resonant frequency. Answer in units of kHz.
(I got 4.239kHz)
b) Find the amplitude of the current at the resonant frequency.
(The answer is 2.647 A)
This is the part I am stuck on:
c) Find the amplitude of the voltage across the inductor at resonance.
Answer in units of V.
Thank you!
Explanation / Answer
c. Inductive reactance XL = 0 * L
where 0 is angular resonance frequency.
XL = (2 * * f0) * L
= 2 * 3.14 * 4.239 * 103 * 15 * 10-3
= 399.31
Voltage across the inductor VL = I * XL
= 2.647 * 399.31
= 1056.98 V
