Question

Hi, I need help working this problem. I keep getting an answer of 0.631391 N/C, but it's wrong. Please help. Thank you.

The Sun delivers an average power of 1890 W/m2 to the top of the Earth’s
atmosphere.
The permeability of free space is 4 × 10^7 T · N/A and the speed of light is 2.99792 × 10^8 m/s.
Find the magnitude of Em for the electromagnetic waves at the top of the atmosphere.
Answer in units of N/C.

Here's what I did:

2*(4 x 10-7 T * N/A) * ( 2.99792 x 108 m/s) / 1890 W/m2 = 0.398655

0.398655 = 0.631391 N/C

Explanation / Answer

The formula for the intensity is
I = Erms^2 /(co )

The maximum electric filed is

           Emax =[ 2co I]

                     = [2(3.0 x 10^8 m/s)(4x 10^-7 H/m)(1890 W/m2)]

                     = 1193.7447 N/C
