Question
At a county fair, a boy and two friends bring their teddy bears on the giant Ferris wheel. The wheel has a diameter of 14.9 m, the bottom of the wheel is 1.9 m above the ground and its rim is moving at a speed of 1.0 m/s. The boys are seated in positions 45° from each other. When the wheel brings the second boy to the maximum height, they all drop their stuffed animals. How far apart will the three teddy bears land? (Assume that the boy on his way down drops bear 1, and the boy on his way up drops bear 3.)

thanks guys
distance between bears 1 and 2 1____________ distance between bears 2 and 32____________
Explanation / Answer
at the moment the three boys drop their bears, their initial velocity is up, down and horizontal. ---------------- the bear 1 and 3 ll be dropped directly under the position of the boys at the moment, so their distance is 2R. bear2 has the velocity of 1 m/s. height=14.9+1.9 time taken for bear 2 to land. sqrt(2*16.8/9.8)=1.85(s). so that d_horizontal=1.85*1=1.85(m) (from the midpoint of the bear 1 and 3). so d12=R-1.85=13(m). d2b=R+1.85=16.8(m)
