cm
d.) Which of the following are true about the image? Choose all that apply.
1. The image is real.
2. The image is virtual.
3. The image is inverted.
4. The image is upright.
e.) Which of the following are true about the mirror? Choose all that apply.
1.The mirror is diverging.
2.The mirror is convex.
3.The mirror is concave.
4.The mirror is converging.
Explanation / Answer
The focal length of the mirror f = 56.5 cm
the object distance do = 93.6cm
(a) From mirror formula
1/f = 1/di + 1/do
then image distance
di = f do / do - f
= (56.5)(93.6) / 93.6 - 56.5
= 142.5 cm
(b) The magnification m = -di/do
= - 142.5 / 93.6
= - 1.52
(c) If the object heigth ho = 9.4cm
then image heigth m = hi/ho
therefore hi = (9.4)(- 1.52) = - 14.28cm
(d) The image is real and inverted
(e) The mirror is concave and converging
