Explanation / Answer

a) this would be the shortest distance thrown. The thrower uses no lower body movement or trunk rotation. All movement comes from the arm. The amount of force and velocity that can be expended is restricted because due to there only being shoulder and elbow flexion. b) This would be the ideal method for throwing for distance except for the fact that the weight is evenly distributed. The thrower uses differentiated trunk rotation which yields maximum force from the trunk. A full arm swing allows more speed and distance to be produced because the moment arm is increased. c) This motion would result in the furthest throw for distance.. The weight distribution from back foot to front foot makes the most difference. There is a distinct windup phase that allows the thrower to build up force and energy and then unleash it in the throwing phase. The added weight to the front end of the throwing motion allows for more force which increases the distance and speed the ball travels.
