Question

The blade on a table saw spins at 3850 rpm . Its diameter is 25.0 cm . What is the speed of a tooth on the edge of the blade in m/s.
I have been working on this one for awhile. First I converted rpm to rps. I then multiplied it by 2pi*rad. Which gave me rad per seconds of 403.95 rad/s. Then I multipied by the radius, which was 0.0125m. The answer that I got was 5.05m/s, however my homework program tells me this is wrong. I am not sure where I went wrong at, any hints or help would be awesome!
Thank you!

Explanation / Answer

= 3850 rpm = 3850*2/60 rad/s, radius r = 25.0/2 = 12.5 cm = 0.125 m

the speed of a tooth on the edge of the blade = r = 50.4 m/s

Your radius 0.0125 m = 1.25 cm which is wrong.
