In the above question , the vehicle counts for coverage stations (1 to 9) are given only for a particular 4 hr period.
In order to calculate the 12 hr volume at each station , the given vehicle counts for each station must be adjusted by respective Expansion Factor.
Since in the given problem Station A is refered to as control station , therefore in order to calculate Expansion FActor(EF) , we can use the data for Station A as reference data for other stations too.
Expansion Factor for a given period=Total Volume for 24 hr period/Volume for particular period
Hence , we can calculate Expansion Factor for each 4 hr period for each day, using the datas for Station A.
The Expansion Factors will be calculated as follows:
Total 12 hr Volume for Monday(Station A):=3000+2800+4100=9900
Total 12 hr Volume for Tuesday(Station A):=3300+3000+4400=10700
Total 12 hr Volume for Wednesday(Station A):=4000+2600+5000=11600
