Question
Which of the statements are correct and which are wrong? Please explain.
1.When setting out the driveway curve with the theodolite and tape using the short chord method, the error noted at T.P. 2 i.e. (B) is a good indication of the precision of all the points set out.
2.Setting out a horizontal curve by the short chord method means that every chord must be measured from the first T.P.
3.Having set out the two Tangent Points (A) and (B) from the I.P., before moving the theodolite it is a good idea to measure the long chord A-B as a check for any errors in turning the angle at (I) or in measuring the distances to the tangent points.
4.The first place that you set up your theodolite will be at the I.P. of the curve.
Explanation / Answer
1. yes in theodalite and tape method first we will fix the tangent pints Aand B, so the final so located must be coinside with the previously fixed tangent point
2. no the chord lengths are measured from each preceding point but deflection angles measured are cumulative angles so theese angles measured from starting point.
3. the long chord deflection angle is eual to the last chord deflection angle so it can used for checking
4. in this method theodalite first placed at A not at I.P from A we can fix the points
