1. The span of the floor joist is 16 feet so as per thumb rule the size of joist is 2 x 12.

The span of the rafter for gable roof is 8 feet so as per thumb rule the size of rater is 2 x 6

2. The span of floor joist is 16 feet and span of a rafter is 8 feet

3. Number of floor joists needed = (32 x 12 ) / 16 + 1 =25 numbers

Number of rafters needed = (32 x 12 x 2 ) / 16 + 2 = 50 numbers
