Assuming the confining beds being pumped are unconsolidated, what rate of land subsidence might be expected? [Hint: Use Figure 9.9 data for ratio of land/water table decline]. I'm not 100% sure how to set this up other than pick two points on each scale and divide that ratio into the number of nyears I chose 1955-1920=35 years to get an annual subsidence prediction. Still confused, thanjks in advance

Explanation / Answer

As per Graph Shown options are to take values B/w 1920 to 1938 or 1948 to 1968.

Because , the values of graph b/w depth to water and attitute are constant for 1938-48.

You should take values for 1948-68, As the declining rate of water table is high as compared to value corresponding to 1920-40.
