Question

I'm building a can crusher from a actuator and I need to know in what sequence I would hook it up to make it extend and retract by using latching relays and a timer or maybe even a photo eye . Any ideas ? I want it to start continuously by pushing a start butting then have a stop button . Can't figure out how to hook it all up . Brandonh1991@att.net . Explanation / Answer

HI I got your question,

Please find the below steps

1) In that first you need to check the torque The amount of current (torque) will depend on the forces required, which could be done by empirical testing.
A linear actuator of the correct rating might do it

2) Ahter that you should measure the torque required(As for your required measurments), a linear actuator capable of the necessary linear speed and force would achieve it. You may have to monitor the maximum current in order to prevent overload.

3).5"/sec and non-adjustable limit switches so if using these you would need to set the maximum travel for the L.S. when extended.
