Question

Which is the correct way to solve the following problem? I have submitted two different pictures that arrive at different solutions. Will you also identify where the picture that is wrong messed up so I don't make that same mistake in the future?

Picture 1:

Picture 2:

For the transistor circuit shown in Fig. 3.125, find IB and VCE. Let = 100 and VBE = 0TV. 0.7 V 1001d) 15 V 3 V Figure 3.125 For Prob. 3.89. Chapter 3, Solution 89 Consider the circuit below. 15 V 0.7 V 1001 VM 3 V For the left loop, applying KVL gives For the right loop, VcE 15-x10 0 But Ic = , = 100x30 A-3 mA Va = 15-3x10-3x10,-12V CE

Explanation / Answer

in picture 1 the direction of the current in base is outward because it is pnp transistor but you consider the direction so it must be multiplied by negative sign in kvl in loop 1......where as in npn the base current in coming in so it taken as positve....so your picture 2 solution is correct and 1 is wrong ....just remember the pnp and npn concept you will solve it correctly
