what you wrote is correct and holds good with help of followingequation.
as speed of sound in water =K/d
where k is bulk modulus of water
speed of sound in air =p/d
where =ratio of specific heats
and p is the pressure of air or any gas in which sound wave ismoving.
if we account for density which is in the denominator densityof air will be less.
but when we consider numerator K the bulk modulus of water is somany times more than p of air.
hence speed of sound is more in water than in air.
as a result we are getting longer wavelengths in water .
as frequency remains constant in any medium.
