Question

Holt Physics by Serway and Faughn Ch. 4 page 147 #2. A student moves a box with mass of 35.0 kgup a ramp inclined at 12 degrees with the horizontal. If the boxstarts from rest at the bottom of the ramp and is pulled at anangle of 25.0 degrees with repect to the incline and with 185 N offorce, what is the acceleeration up the ramp? Assume that thecoefficient of kinetic friction is o.27. Holt Physics by Serway and Faughn Ch. 4 page 147 #2. Explanation / Answer

F gravity = 35(9.8) = 343 N F normal = F gravity = 343N x - component of gravity is 343 cos 12 = 71 N y - comp of grav = 343 sin 12 = 335 N Ffr = Uk*Fnormal = .27(335 N) = 90 N

2. Simplify FBD : you only need Ffr from previous step add twomore arrows: from pulling force = 185 sin 25 and 185 cos 25
subtract the force of friction from the x component of pullingforce and use newtons second law f = ma to solve foracceleration.
hope this helps, I rounded so you should start from scratchand not use my numbers
