Question
A pinhole camera has a small circular aperture of diameter D. Light from distant objects passes through the aperture into anotherwise dark box. The aperture in the pinhole camera has adiameter D = 0.600 mm. Two point sources of light ofwavelength 500 nm are at a distance L from the hole. Theseparation between the sources is 2.80 cm and they are justresolved by the camera. What is the value of L?I worked through this problem and got 27.54 meters ,but I dontthink this is correct . Can someone please help me andshow me how to do this.
Thank you
Explanation / Answer
d = 0.60 mm = ........ m = 500 nm sin = 1.22 ( / d) = .........o tan = y / L = 2.80x 10-2 m / L L = ........
