On successful completion of the assignment, the student will be able, at threshold level, to:

1. select strategies for managing time in construction projects;

2. select strategies for managing cost in construction projects; and

3. select strategies for managing quality in construction projects.

Task

Each student is required to produce a report from the information provided in the Project Information folder in the VLE. Each report is to comprise of sections A, B and C as specified below.

Section A      Time Schedule

Prepare a project time schedule. Include, as appendices, details of the inputs you use to create the project time schedule and show all the steps taken to implement the tools/techniques used to create the project time schedule.

Section B      Cost Baseline

Use CESMM4 to prepare a schedule of quantities and associated cost baseline. Your schedule of quantities should follow the format set out in CESMM4. Your calculations that form the basis of the cost baseline should be included as an appendix.

Section C      Quality Assurance

Identify two quality requirements for the project. Explain how you would go about quality assurance with respect to the identified quality requirements.

For all sections:

state any assumptions you have had to make; and

it is expected that the report will demonstrate understanding of the inputs, tools/techniques and outputs of the processes in the respective knowledge areas in the Project Management Body of Knowledge.
